Sight Word Practice

Sight words are words that should be memorized because it can be impossible for students to sound out.  I have attached a list of the first 100 sight words.  In class we have been working on the first 50 words.  You can do the following activities to help your child read them:
- Make flashcards
- Have students practice spelling the words
- Writing the word on paper
- Sky writing
- Writing the word in shaving cream
- Using play dough to spell the word
- Look for the sight word in books, magazines, and newspaper
- "Cheer" the word by using body movements
- Spell word using their body (ex: straight tall body for the letter l, create a circle around the head with arms for the letter o)
