Message from the Counselors

Makaha School Counselors are here to support you. Parents please use the link to our Counseling Check-In Request Form. This form will provide us with some basic information and allow us to reach out to you and your child by following up with a phone call to check-in. We miss our students and want to support them and you the best that we can during these trying times. Please let us know if you are interested and have concerns and we will give you a call back.
Thank you,

By now, I’m sure most of our keiki have an idea about the corona virus. Times like these can bring anxiety not only to us, the adults, but also our children.   The article below discusses different ways to confront the corona virus topic with your child and to help ease the anxiety.
Hi Makaha Ohana.  Second Step is the social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum that we use here at Makaha. To help ensure that we’re consistent with the learning in the classroom and our new distant learning, the link below will connect you to some resources from Second Step.

Great news!  Parents now have access through June 30th to the Streaming Lesson Media (videos and songs) when they create an account on, although it should be noted that the videos are meant to be taken in the context of being delivered as part of the complete lesson.  Most lessons have been completed by your child's teacher.  Please contact your child's teacher to find out which lesson they ended at.

Please check out the Department of Education's website for parents/care givers.  There are strategies posted to help your child get in a routine of learning at home.
Tips for distant learning:

  8. Remain mindful of your child's stress or worry.
  9. Monitor how much time your child is spending online.
  10. Keep your children social, but set rules around their social media interaction.
